What We Offer
Rotations
Hematopathology fellows spend the majority of the fellowship at Fox Chase Cancer Center. The core rotation includes exposure to a wide variety of routine and complex hematopathology cases, with a focus on hematologic malignancies. The department has busy ancillary testing laboratories for flow cytometry, immunohistochemistry, cytogenetics, and molecular pathology, which the fellows interact with on a regular basis.
Fellows spend one month at the Children's Hospital of Pennsylvania (CHOP), focusing on pediatric hematopathology. There is one month of optional elective time to rotate in related clinical laboratories at FCCC.
Education
Hematopathology education is reinforced through a variety of formal and informal settings, including didactic lectures, teaching sessions, and training at the microscope. Fellows present at multidisciplinary tumor board, educational conferences, and monthly journal club. Fellows assist with teaching medical students, research volunteers, and trainees from pathology and other disciplines.
Fellows are expected to participate in at least one research project and present their work at regional, national, or international meetings.
