Kate Murphy-career speaker

Kathleen Murphy

A native Pennsylvanian, Kate Murphy was born and raised in Bensalem, Pennsylvania.  She attended high school at Nazareth Academy and college at St. Joseph’s University (The Hawk Will Never Die!). While at St. Joe’s, Kate decided to pursue a career in nursing, and was later accepted into an accelerated nursing program for second degree students at Thomas Jefferson University (TJU). After completing nursing school, she worked on a medical oncology unit at TJU Hospital while completing her graduate degree and learned many valuable lessons that helped shape her future career.

While working in medical oncology as a staff nurse, Kate completed her Masters of Science in Nursing and nurse practitioner degree from TJU. She took a job right out of school with their Hematology Oncology/Bone Marrow Transplant Program. As if finishing school and starting a new job wasn’t keeping her busy enough, Kate got married shortly after graduation!  Gaining invaluable work experience, the birth of her son set the momentum for a change and she accepted a job with the Supportive Oncology and Palliative Care Team at Fox Chase Cancer Center. She has worked in the role of nurse practitioner for the past 8 years. During her time at Fox Chase she completed her Doctorate of Nursing Practice at Temple University. She is incredibly fortunate to mix the world of clinical care with that of nursing research.
