As General Counsel for Fox Chase Cancer Center, Jerome Maddox oversees the legal and governance functions for the center, including corporate secretarial matters, major contracts and transactions, regulatory compliance, litigation, legal support of research, intellectual property, clinical trials and affiliations with commercial partners, and medical staff and patient care matters.
Jerome joined Fox Chase and Temple Health after serving as Vice President of Global Commercial and Public Policy in the legal department at Moderna in Cambridge, Massachusetts. At Moderna, he was the global commercial lead for the negotiation supply agreements for Moderna’s COVID-19 vaccine and crafted agreements with the European Union, GAVI, Japan, Australia, UNICEF, Colombia, and the United Nations, among others.
Prior to his role at Moderna, he had roles of increasing responsibility at GlaxoSmithKline in Philadelphia and Brussels, including as Vice President, Legal Operations for Global and U.S. Vaccines and as Senior Counsel for R&D and Global Legal Operations – Oncology. Jerome also served as a litigation associate in the antitrust and drug products liability practice groups at Dechert LLP in Philadelphia. He has extensive experience in commercialization, research and development, sponsored research, and clinical trials.
In a prior career, Jerome earned a doctorate in Political Science at Harvard University and held tenure track jobs at Stanford University and the University of Pennsylvania.
Though born in Boston, Jerome has become a Philadelphian at heart, including raising his sons to be die hard Philadelphia sports fans. He lives in Mt. Airy (Philadelphia) with his wife, Valarie, and two dogs.
