Who is eligible for the program?

This is a paid residency for graduates of an approved BSN program with less than one year of working experience and with a strong desire to work with oncology patients, outstanding references and an excellent academic profile will be considered for this exceptional program.

The following requirements must be submitted along with your application:

  • Professional resume
  • Two clinical letters of reference
  • A short essay (less than 500 words): Describe the experiences that qualify you to be considered as a candidate for the Nurse Residency Program. Please include all academic, personal, work experience, and electives you have had that relate to oncology nursing.

How long is the Nurse Resident Program?

The program is a year in length with 4 months counting as non-productive time (Although you are paid as a resident, you do not count on floor staffing numbers, allowing sufficient time for your preceptor-supervised orientation.) A two year Staff RN employment commitment will be requested after successful completion of the nurse residency program.

  • Professional resume
  • Two clinical letters of reference using the Letter of Reference Form
    1. recent medical-surgical instructor *REQUIRED
    2. another clinical instructor
  • Short essay (less than 500 words) addressing the following: Describe the experiences that qualify you to be considered as a candidate for the Nurse Residency Program.  (Remember to include all academic, personal, work experience and electives you have had that relate to your unit of interest
  • Copy of your transcript, including your most recent grades

The program is a year in length with 6 months counting as non-productive time (Although you are paid as a resident, you do not count on floor staffing numbers, allowing sufficient time for your preceptor-supervised orientation.) A two year Staff RN employment commitment will be requested after successful completion of the nurse residency program.
