The Transgenic Mouse Facility provides Cancer Center members the ability to introduce, delete or modify endogenous genes to answer questions about gene function. Transgenic and knockout models provide insights into gene regulation, immune system cellular interactions, and the effect of oncogenes on growth and differentiation. Specialized zinc finger nuclease mediated and CRISPR-mediated gene targeting accelerate the generation of knockout and knock-in mice, and allow complex mouse models that were not previously feasible.
