More than 550 members of the Fox Chase Cancer Center community gathered in Center City on October 4 for the Fox Chase Cancer Center Gala. From guest emcee Ruben Amaro, Jr. to a special performance by 16-time Grammy award-winner David Foster and acclaimed singer, television, and Broadway star Katharine McPhee, it was an unforgettable evening.
During a night of dinner, auctions of premium wines and experiences, and world-class entertainment, the most enthusiastic applause was in response to Doug Goldstein, a grateful patient and longtime donor. Goldstein shared his personal experience with a rare form of bladder cancer and the lengths Dr. Uzzo went to treat him successfully. He received an extended standing ovation when he thanked Fox Chase for making it possible for him to raise his two sons, who were pre-school age when he was diagnosed in 2013.
This 12th annual signature event was a celebration of optimism, progress, and community - and raised vital funds to accelerate lifesaving research and deliver compassionate care at Philadelphia’s cancer center.
