Treatment Focus

Interventional Pulmonology and Critical Care

  • Interventional Pulmonology: Minimally invasive procedures to diagnose and treat lung cancer, benign and malignant causes of airway obstruction, and pleural disease.
  • Critical Care: Taking care of patients who require the intensive care unit (ICU)

Treatment Philosophy

As an interventional pulmonologist I work as part of a large multi-disciplinary team to diagnose and treat cancers involving the lung.  Both primary lung cancers and other cancers that involve the lung can make people feel short of breath and limit activity which leads to a worse quality of life.  However, while patients are undergoing treatment of lung cancers, we can employ many minimally invasive techniques to treat shortness of breath and improve lung function.  This helps people keep feeling well and stay active.

Patient Stories

Joyce Vrbicek

Joyce Vrbicek

Before cancer, I was a retired Philadelphia police officer who enjoyed many wonderful adventures with my husband, Braco. We enjoyed running businesses together, traveling together, and raising our daughters together. But, when Braco was diagnosed with lung cancer in 2016 at the age of 57, everything changed. And, a few years later in 2019, I was faced with my own lung cancer diagnosis.
