I often tell my kids “We are a Team” and like to extend the same philosophy to my patients. I realize that illness does not just affect an individual, but the whole family. In my daily encounters, I try best to address what concerns patients most, besides also treating their symptoms.
I feel fortunate to have joined a team of colleagues at Fox Chase Cancer Center who share my thoughts and enthusiasm for challenging difficult disease conditions. While I am most interested in lung cancer, I like to think of my self as a comprehensive pulmonologist, eager to diagnose and manage a vast variety of pulmonary conditions including sarcoidosis, COPD, asthma and pulmonary infections.
Most recently, I have become especially interested in early detection of lung cancer with low dose CT scanning, and am working on building effective models to implement and further study comprehensive screening. I am excited to join Fox Chase as it gives me the opportunity to collaborate closely with researchers working on other modalities to further enhance early lung cancer detection.
I hope to work along with you in any way to help facilitate your goals and relieve suffering. I look forward to long lasting relationships.
I’ve never smoked, and I didn’t have any other risk factors. Still, in 2022, I was diagnosed with lung cancer.

Dr Kumar is excellent. He reviewed my CT scan with me and compared it to my original one done 2 yrs ago. He showed me the details on the scan and explained my situation to me. He answered my questions.I have total confidence in Dr Kimar!!!
Dr Kumar is a godsend. I appreciate his sharp expertise and his compassionate manner.
I trust Dr Kumar to monitor my health and to help me make decisions about my medical care.
Dr. Kumar is a superb physician. He had thoroughly reviewed my medical records from other facilities before I arrived. He asked pointed questions to be sure he understood my past and current issues. He listened carefully and attentively to my responses and my questions. He answered my questions clearly and completely. He appears to be an excellent diagnostician. He is not only an expert in his field, but he a caring and friendly person. I have complete confidence in him. I have been to two other Temple Health pulmonologists in the past, and, in my view, Dr. Kumar is head and shoulders above the others.
Even though Dr. Kumar was very behind, he didn't rush me and was very attentive to my concerns.
