Around Fox Chase

College students and recent graduates presented findings to their peers on July 26 from research they conducted during the Diversity Scholars Summer Research and Enrichment Program at the Lewis Katz School of Medicine at Temple University and Fox Chase Cancer Center.

So often, people comment on the sense of community felt throughout Fox Chase Cancer Center. It is not surprising, then, that the faculty and staff who create this environment so often extend it beyond the cancer center’s campus.

On June 30th, over 500 cancer survivors—many wearing their Team Fox Chase 50th anniversary t-shirts—took the field for a Victory Lap before a sold-out game at Citizens Bank Park for Fox Chase’s annual Survivors’ Day Celebration. This year’s event was the largest in Fox Chase’s nearly 15-year history with the Phillies: the pregame tailgate, which included survivors’ families and friends, had nearly 1,500 attendees.

For 50 years, from its founding in 1974 through today, Fox Chase Cancer Center has committed itself to clinical excellence, research expertise, and community health. To celebrate, Fox Chase hosted a courtyard party on June 18 featuring music, food, lawn games, and special guest appearances.

Day by day, the urology nurse navigators of Fox Chase Cancer Center offer a reassuring voice on the phone lines and a steady presence for patients preparing to receive care in one of the cancer center’s busiest clinical areas.

The only way to make dragon boat racing with friends and colleagues even more fun is when it’s for a great cause! That was why our team from Fox Chase’s Department of Radiation Oncology had such an excellent time at the Paddle for Pink Dragon Boat Race on June 15th.
