More than 550 members of the Fox Chase Cancer Center community gathered in Center City on a recent Saturday night to celebrate the cancer center’s 50th Anniversary Gala. This unforgettable affair raised nearly $5 million (and counting) for clinical research and patient care at Fox Chase.

With a close 3-2 game against the Houston Astros, the Phillies pulled together to earn yet another win for Philadelphia one late August night. Great teamwork is something that many of us know about throughout Temple Health, and the Fox Chase Radiation Oncology Department sponsored an employee and family event to see it happen.

The staff of the Endoscopy, Minor Procedure, Bronchoscopy (EMB) Suite at Fox Chase Cancer Center saw a record-setting 500 cases this past April.

Fox Chase Cancer Center was recently recognized by the American College of Surgeons (ACS) as a Surgical Quality Partner through participation in the organization’s Commission on Cancer and National Surgical Quality Improvement Program (NSQIP).

As a designated “muse,” Fox Chase Cancer Center’s Hossein Borghaei, DO, MS, was not sure what to expect from Mary Korol, the William Tennent High School senior who interviewed him as the subject for her contribution to the annual Beyond the Canvas program. He could not necessarily fathom what exactly she took away from their conversation or how that would be presented in a painting.

For the nursing community of Fox Chase Cancer Center, the drive for excellence goes beyond bedside care. This past April, 28 Fox Chase nurses attended the Oncology Nursing Society (ONS) Congress, 18 of whom presented new research and best practices.

Participation in National Night Out has become an annual tradition for staff at Fox Chase Cancer Center and Temple University Hospital – Jeanes Campus. The local Fox Chase event, held this year on August 13 in the parking lot of Fox Chase Elementary School, brought together neighbors for a community bike ride, refreshments, giveaways, information about state and local resources, and an opportunity to meet with local police and emergency personnel. The event was hosted by the Office of State Senator Jimmy Dillon, in collaboration with the Fox Chase Town Watch.
