Pancreatic cancer is poised to become the second leading cause of cancer-related death in the United States, yet it remains significantly under-researched. The following are some examples of how the team plans to use your donations:
• Establish and maintain a unified pancreatic cancer clinical and research database, integrating comprehensive clinical, genetic, geographic, dietary and more, as well as treatment data with a large collection of biological samples and patient-derived xenografts.
• Develop an informatics infrastructure to create standardized protocols for clinical data collection, implementing a Pancreatic Cancer Clinical Pathway to streamline patient evaluation and treatment assessments, and enhancing access to clinical trials.
• Implement procedures for rapid tissue and blood collection for genetic and other biological testing, prioritizing the needs of pancreatic cancer patients.
• Support efforts to identify high-risk families and integrate Fox Chase’s early detection program, with clinical research as well as basic and population science initiatives.
• Conduct clinical trials with medical, biological, and population scientific research goals to ensure a continuous supply of innovative treatment options and a wholistic approach.
