PHILADELPHIA (January 31, 2022)—Iberia Romina Sosa, MD, PhD, an associate professor at Fox Chase Cancer Center, was recently appointed the new chief of the Division of Hematology in the Department of Hematology/Oncology.

PHILADELPHIA (January 27, 2022)—Laura Bukavina, MD, MPH, a Urologic Oncology Fellow at Fox Chase Cancer Center, has been awarded the American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO) Genitourinary Conquer Cancer Merit Award. She will present the winning abstract, which characterizes the gut microbiome of bladder cancer patients, at the 2022 ASCO Genitourinary Cancers Symposium in San Francisco, which is being held February 17-19.

Jones Award for Excellence in Education from the Genetics Society of America (GSA).

PHILADELPHIA (January 20, 2022)—Researchers at Fox Chase Cancer Center have found that disparities in the incidence of head and neck cancer (HNC) are driven by behavioral and environmental risk factors rather than race. They demonstrated this in the first-ever study to compare HNC incidence in Black patients in the United States, the Caribbean, and Africa.

PHILADELPHIA (January 5, 2022)— Researchers at Fox Chase Cancer Center recently received a $497,000 multi-year grant from the National Cancer Institute within the National Institutes of Health to develop a way to evaluate novel drug therapies in patients with pancreatic cancer.
