Educating Families and Communities

You've heard it said before: "Knowledge is Power."

As it relates to cancer, knowledge can give you the power to:

  • Make healthier lifestyle changes that can lower your cancer risk.
  • Take charge of your health by getting the right cancer screenings for you and your family members.
  • Ask your medical team the right questions.
  • Be a partner in decisions about your treatment options.

Lippincott Resource and Education Center

You are not alone. Our Lippincott Resource and Education Center (REC) can offer you and your family a wealth of information about cancer. From risk and screening, to diagnosis and treatment through supportive care to survivorship, we can help every step of the way! We can connect you to resources at Fox Chase, like our Patient-to-Patient Network that matches cancer survivor volunteers with new patients needing support. We can also find you resources in your own community.

The REC has a variety of printed information available, or you can use one of the REC's computers to look for resources online. Our health educators can help you find what you need and talk with you one-on-one about your concerns.

We also host a free monthly virtual Community Education Series. These one hour programs provide information to patients, caregivers and community members on various cancer topics.

The REC is open Monday-Friday from 8 am to 4 pm. You can visit us at the Robert C. Young Pavilion.

If you have questions, you can email the REC at [email protected] or call us at 215-214-1618. We return all calls and emails within two business days.

Community Speakers Bureau

The  Office of Community Outreach and Engagement offers one-hour educational sessions where you will learn about cancer risk, screening, treatment options, and tips for staying healthy. Our sessions are free and offered in English and Spanish. We can come on site for the session or host one virtually. In Pennsylvania, we serve community groups located in Philadelphia, Berks, Bucks, Chester, Delaware and Montgomery counties. In New Jersey, we serve community groups located in Atlantic, Burlington, Camden, Cape May, Cumberland, Gloucester, Mercer, Ocean, and Salem counties.

To schedule a session for your group or learn more about education/outreach materials, fill out our inquiry form.

Please note that we may need at least 3-4 weeks notice to fill your request.  We are not able to guarantee a speaker for every request
