Benign Breast Disease
Benign breast disease is a group of noncancerous breast conditions that can affect both women and men. Some of these conditions may be referred to as fibrocystic changes to the breast.
Many benign breast conditions may appear to have the same symptoms as breast cancer and require tests, such as a biopsy, for diagnosis. Most biopsy results do not show cancer, but it is important to have the test done. Some benign breast conditions do not need treatment, while others may be precancerous abnormalities that require treatment.
At Fox Chase Cancer Center, our team of breast cancer specialists has extensive experience with both cancerous and benign breast disease.
