It was during a follow-up visit that Kat’s doctor told her she was overdue for her yearly mammogram. Because of her strong family history of cancer, she’d always kept on top of screening. After receiving the reminder, she quickly made an appointment.

Unfortunately, her mammogram was concerning, and a biopsy revealed something that would change her life. At age 43, Kat Kramer was diagnosed with stage I breast cancer.

Kat grew up in Philadelphia and had family members who were treated at Fox Chase, so she knew exactly where she would go. Upon entering Fox Chase for her first appointment, she immediately felt at ease with her specialists and their expertise treating breast cancer. They decided on an individualized treatment plan for her – a bilateral lumpectomy (with lymph node removal) followed by radiation.

Six months later, Kat was able to ring the bell, and she has been cancer-free ever since!
