Treatment Philosophy

When I reflect back at the past, 40 years spent with Fox Chase, I realize my employment has provided me with many advantages to further excel my skills and knowledge in the nursing field.

In 1976, Fox Chase offered to send me to Harrisburg Hospital school of Enterostomal.  Becoming a Wound Ostomy Nurse gave me the opportunity to interact with Patients and their families on a completely new level. I was instructing them on how to manage certain outcomes that were the result of the life changing surgeries, often accompanied by a diagnosis of colo-rectal or bladder cancer.

Several years later, I continued my education attended Gwynned-Mercy College.  In 1983 I started in the role of Discharged Planning Coordinator leading to the role of Case Management.  In this role, I work helping the patient and family with the transition from hospital to home.

In 1998, Fox Chase offered me yet another opportunity to broaden my interests and skills.  I went on to join the marketing department and I managed the hospital's cancer information hotline.  It was my responsibility to provide patients with the most current information pertaining to programs and treatment services at Fox Chase.

In 2013, while finishing my BSN at Holy Family University, I was offered a new role at Fox Chase as a Genitourinary (GU) Nurse Navigator.  This role allows me to continue to working with patients who are newly diagnosed with diseases that affect the genitourinary tract.

My life as a nurse has taken me down many roads.  Every experience was an opportunity to learn and to gain something positive.  Being a nurse at Fox Chase is not just a job, it is something that I have always been passionate about and look forward to doing for many years to come.
