Cancer is largely a disease of aging. Most people diagnosed with cancer are in their 60s, 70s, or older, yet much of what scientists know about cancer and how to treat it comes from studies that do not reflect that reality.

For most people, cancer is discovered only after it has already taken hold. By then, treatment can be complex, difficult, and life‑altering. But what if cancer could be stopped before it becomes dangerous? That possibility is driving an innovative approach known as cancer interception, and Fox Chase Cancer Center is among a small group of institutions helping define this emerging approach.

At Fox Chase Cancer Center, Brendan Boyle, a Democrat representing Pennsylvania’s Second Congressional District, joined clinicians, researchers, and advocates to highlight growing national momentum around lung cancer in women, an area receiving increased attention through the bipartisan Women and Lung Cancer Research and Preventive Services Act.

One hundred and forty-four (144) Fox Chase Cancer Center physicians have been named to Philadelphia magazine’s “Top Doctors” list for 2026. Physicians on the list were nominated by a national survey of their professional peers.

Calling all dog lovers! Registration is now open for this year’s Paws for the Cause, presented by Fox Chase Cancer Center’s Board of Associates. Fundraising officially kicked off this March for the well-loved dog walk, set for Sunday, September 20, 2026.

Temple Health today announced the appointment of Robert A. Winn, MD, as the next Cancer Center Director for Fox Chase Cancer Center, marking a defining moment that will shape the future of one of the nation’s leading National Cancer Institute-designated Comprehensive Cancer Centers.

On October 29, 2025, Jay Simhan, MD, FACS, was installed as the inaugural Carol and Louis Della Penna Chair in Urologic Cancer Survivorship at a ceremony hosted by Temple University, Fox Chase Cancer Center, and Temple Health.
