PHILADELPHIA (July 16, 2020)—Fox Chase Cancer Center researchers have concluded that heat and moisture exchanger (HME) cassettes are more effective at preventing mucus plugs following removal of the larynx than external tracheal humidification.

PHILADELPHIA (July 15, 2020) – Fox Chase Cancer Center announces the hiring of Brandon Bachert, MD, who will join the department of diagnostic imaging as a full time body imager. Bachert will be an assistant professor on the academic track.

PHILADELPHIA (July 13, 2020) – Genome Profiling and Fox Chase Cancer Center will collaborate to identify a novel immune system epigenetic biomarker, dubbed EpiMarker, which if successful, will be used to help predict which lung cancer patients are likely to respond to a checkpoint inhibitor therapy known as anti-PD1 antibody. These agents are a potentially valuable tool for lung cancer treatment, but it remains very difficult for doctors to predict which patients are most likely to benefit from them.

PHILADELPHIA (June 29, 2020)—Researchers at Fox Chase Cancer Center recently conducted a study analyzing the impact of sun exposure and tanning patterns on gene mutations in patients with advanced melanoma. Those who experienced blistering sunburn had a higher number of gene mutations in their tumors compared to those who did not experience blistering sunburn.

PHILADELPHIA (June 25, 2020) – The Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) review committee stated that the program “demonstrated outstanding compliance with the ACGME’s Program Requirements and/or Institutional Requirements.” ACGME would not require a site visit for the next 10 years, the longest duration allowed by the ACGME.
