PHILADELPHIA (March 16, 2017) —  Philip H. Abbosh, MD, PhD, assistant research professor at Fox Chase, led a research team searching for evidence that chemotherapy may activate the immune system to eradicate bladder cancer. A poster of the study is being presented at the American Association for Cancer Research (AACR) Annual Meeting 2017 in Washington, DC on Tuesday, April 4.

PHILADELPHIA (March 16, 2017) — Fox Chase Cancer Center researchers Igor Astsaturov, MD, PhD, and Linara Gabitova, PhD, have shown for the first time that pancreatic cancer cells are dependent on cholesterol metabolism to form and grow. The study also singled out an enzyme that could be targeted to eliminate cholesterol production within the pancreas. A poster of the study is being presented at the American Association for Cancer Research (AACR) Annual Meeting 2017 in Washington, DC on Sunday, April 2.

PHILADELPHIA (March 9, 2017) – Specialists from Fox Chase Cancer Center and the Temple Head & Neck Institute (THNI) will offer free oral cancer screenings in observance of the 20th annual Oral, Head, and Neck Cancer Awareness Week® (OHANCAW®) taking place April 2-9, 2017.

PHILADELPHIA (March 7, 2017) — Fox Chase Cancer Center is pleased to announce its continuing support for the Colon Cancer Coalition’s Annual Get Your Rear in Gear run/walk. Faculty, staff, volunteers, patients, survivors, and their families will come together as members of the Fox Chase team on Sunday, March 26.

PHILADELPHIA (March 1, 2017) – In honor of National Colorectal Cancer Awareness Month, Fox Chase Cancer Center is urging both patients to schedule a colorectal cancer screening.  One’s lifetime risk of developing colorectal cancer is approximately 1 in 21 (4.7%) for men and 1 in 23 (4.4%) for women.

PHILADELPHIA (February 21, 2017)— Eric M. Horwitz, MD, chair of the Department of Radiation Oncology at Fox Chase Cancer Center, has been selected by the American Brachytherapy Society (ABS) as an inaugural ABS Fellow. He will be formally recognized at the ABS 2017 Annual Conference in Boston in April.

PHILADELPHIA (February 8, 2017) – The Fox Chase-Temple University Hospital Bone Marrow Transplant Program has received internationally-recognized accreditation by the Foundation for the Accreditation of Cellular Therapy (FACT) at the University of Nebraska Medical Center for adult allogeneic and autologous hematopoietic progenitor cell transplantation, peripheral blood cellular therapy product collection, and cellular therapy product processing with minimal manipulation.
