In a study recently published by researchers at Fox Chase Cancer Center, patients being treated for retroperitoneal sarcoma at multiple facilities experienced longer delays between diagnosis and treatment and traveled farther to receive treatment, but their overall survival rates were equivalent to patients receiving nonfragmented care.

Pooja Ghatalia, MD, an Associate Professor in the Department of Hematology/Oncology at Fox Chase Cancer Center, has been granted funding from the Department of Defense (DoD) office of the Congressionally Directed Medical Research Programs (CDMRP) to study a new approach to treatment for patients with metastatic urothelial carcinoma.

Now, a new study presented by Fox Chase Cancer Center clinicians at the American Urological Association’s (AUA) Annual Meeting supports the use of partially absorbable synthetic, non-biologic parastomal mesh to significantly reduce this risk in real-world practice.
