The American Cancer Society’s newly formed Pennsylvania/New Jersey Pay-If Research Council has funded Jaye Gardiner, PhD, to  continue her efforts to understand the signaling from cell-cell interactions in the pancreatic tumor microenvironment.

PHILADELPHIA (December 11, 2018) — Jonathan Chernoff, MD, PhD, chief scientific officer and Stanley P. Reimann Chair in Oncology Research at Fox Chase Cancer Center, has received a grant from the Melanoma Research Foundation to support his research on RAC1 mutant melanoma. 

Dr. Denise Connolly has led the way in changing how ovarian cancer is understood. Her lab pioneered the first transgenic mouse model that develops spontaneous ovarian carcinomas, making it easier for scientists everywhere to study ovarian cancers. 

PHILADELPHIA (November 28, 2018) – Warren D. Kruger, PhD,  has received a grant from the National Institutes of Health to study whether proteasome inhibitors (Pls) and proteostasis modulators are effective in restoring function to treating cystathionine beta synthase (CBS) deficiency, also known as classical homocystinuria.

PHILADELPHIA (November 26, 2018) – Y. Lynn Wang, MD, PhD, FCAP, is a board-certified molecular pathologist who specializes in the development and interpretation of molecular and genomic clinical assays including next-gen sequencing assays. As part of her transition, the Wang Lab was relocated to Fox Chase from the University of Chicago.

PHILADELPHIA (November 27, 2018) – Jennifer Barsky Reese, PhD,  will evaluate the efficacy of a couple-based intervention that addresses breast cancer-related sexual concerns and is delivered via telephone to post-treatment breast cancer survivors and their intimate partners in a multi-site randomized controlled trial.

PHILADELPHIA (November 26, 2018) – Camille Ragin, PhD, MPH, has received a grant from the National Institutes of Health (NIH) in the amount of $3.3 million to study cancer and cardiovascular disease risk (CVD) in Caribbean countries.
