PHILADELPHIA (January 24, 2022)—The two leaders of the Immersion Science Program (ISP) at Fox Chase Cancer Center, which allows students to explore science in a hands-on way while also providing valuable data that can help working researchers, have received the prestigious Elizabeth W. Jones Award for Excellence in Education from the Genetics Society of America (GSA).

PHILADELPHIA (January 20, 2022)—Researchers at Fox Chase Cancer Center have found that disparities in the incidence of head and neck cancer (HNC) are driven by behavioral and environmental risk factors rather than race. They demonstrated this in the first-ever study to compare HNC incidence in Black patients in the United States, the Caribbean, and Africa.

PHILADELPHIA (January 5, 2022)— Researchers at Fox Chase Cancer Center recently received a $497,000 multi-year grant from the National Cancer Institute within the National Institutes of Health to develop a way to evaluate novel drug therapies in patients with pancreatic cancer.

PHILADELPHIA (December 17, 2021)—Jeffrey M. Farma, MD, FACS, chief of the Division of General Surgery and co-director of the Melanoma and Skin Cancer Program at Fox Chase Cancer Center, has been elected a member-at-large for the Society of University Surgeons (SUS). According to the SUS, the member-at-large position is an important part of its nominating committee. 

PHILADELPHIA (December 15, 2021)—Stephanie Greco, MD, FACS, an assistant professor in the Department of Surgical Oncology at Fox Chase Cancer Center, became a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons (FACS) during the convocation ceremony at the ACS Clinical Congress, which was held virtually October 23-27.

PHILADELPHIA (December 14, 2021)—Loss of the protein-tyrosine phosphatase SHP1 may be used as a biomarker to predict efficacy of ibrutinib in certain cases of diffuse large B-cell lymphoma (DLBCL), according to the results of a study by Fox Chase Cancer Center researchers presented in a poster at the 63rd ASH Annual Meeting and Exposition.
