PHILADELPHIA (November 11, 2025) — Fox Chase Cancer Center is pleased to announce the hiring of Shifa Gandhi, MD, as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Medicine for the Division of Pulmonary, Sleep and Critical Care Medicine. Gandhi will see patients at Fox Chase Main Campus. 

Gandhi joins Fox Chase from Yale University Hospital, where she completed a fellowship in pulmonary and critical care medicine. During her time there, she also participated in research funded by the National Institutes for Health that focused on sarcoidosis, studying the biological and nonbiological factors influencing disease outcomes.

Gandhi received her medical degree from Robert Wood Johnson Medical School and completed a residency in internal medicine at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital. She is board certified in internal medicine and has a strong foundation in both clinical practice and research.

Throughout her training, Gandhi has been involved in numerous research projects exploring pulmonary embolism, acute respiratory distress syndrome, and quality improvement initiatives. Her work has been published in several peer-reviewed journals, including Chest and Frontiers in Cell and Developmental Biology.

She has presented her research at national conferences, including the American Thoracic Society Annual Meeting, and has contributed to education through lectures at Griffin Hospital and grand rounds at Yale. Gandhi is also passionate about improving health equity and exploring the intersection of social determinants and respiratory disease outcomes.
