PHILADELPHIA (July 15, 2025) — Sanjeevani Arora, PhD, Assistant Professor in the Cancer Prevention and Control Research Program and a member of the Cancer Epigenetics Institute at Fox Chase Cancer Center, was recently recognized by the Journal of the American Medical Association (JAMA) Network Open for significant contributions in her role as a reviewer.
“Being named a Distinguished Reviewer by JAMA Network Open is truly an honor. Peer review is a cornerstone of the scientific process, and I view it as both a responsibility and a privilege to contribute to that process,” said Arora.
According to JAMA, a Distinguished Reviewer consistently provides high-quality peer reviews ranked very good or excellent by the journal’s editorial team. These rankings not only allow editors to make timely decisions regarding journal publications but also contribute substantially to the overall quality and impact of the journal.
In a formal letter to Arora, Eli N. Perencevich, MD, MS, Editor in Chief of JAMA Network Open, noted her professionalism, attention to detail, and commitment to turnaround time as key factors that have resulted in her recognition as a Distinguished Reviewer.
“We want to formally thank you for the key role you have played in the success of the journal’s peer review process, which has allowed JAMA Network Open to remain one of the top open-access general medical journals in the world,” Perencevich wrote.
“This recognition affirms the value of thoughtful, rigorous critique in advancing medical science, and I am proud to represent Fox Chase Cancer Center in upholding these standards,” said Arora. “It’s especially meaningful to be part of a journal that continues to shape high-impact, accessible research in medicine.”
