PHILADELPHIA (June 7, 2023)—Jennifer Barsky Reese, PhD, FSBM, an associate professor in the Cancer Prevention and Control research program at Fox Chase Cancer Center, will address the topic of the sexual concerns of cancer survivors on June 13 as part of the National Cancer Institute’s Office of Cancer Survivorship Director’s Series.
Reese’s presentation will focus on interventions to improve sexual health outcomes, relationships, and quality of life for those affected by cancer. The title of her webinar will be “Sexual Concerns of Cancer Survivors: Are We Close to Addressing This Unmet Need?”

The Office of Cancer Survivorship Director’s Series webinars serve as an avenue for promoting a better understanding of the unique needs of the growing population of cancer survivors. Each webinar focuses on research that examines and addresses the long- and short-term physical, psychological, social, and economic effects of cancer and its treatment among pediatric and adult survivors of cancer and their families.
Reese is a behavioral scientist and licensed psychologist who received her doctorate in clinical psychology from Rutgers University. At Fox Chase, her research focus is designing, evaluating, and disseminating methods for improving intimacy, interpersonal functioning, and quality of life among those with cancer.
In addition to her work as an associate professor, she is current chair of the Scientific Network on Female Sexual Health and Cancer, as well as a member of several other professional societies, including the International Society for the Study of Women’s Sexual Health, the American Psychosocial Oncology Society, and the Society of Behavioral Medicine, where she was recently awarded fellow status.
In 2021, she received the New Investigator Award from the American Psychosocial Oncology Society. From 2019 through 2023, she served as associate editor of the journal Annals of Behavioral Medicine. She has also served as an affiliate member of the editorial board of the journal Psycho-Oncology.
