Lymphoma Research Foundation Holds Educational Workshop for Members of the Lymphoma Community

Philadelphia, PA (September 18, 2014)—The Lymphoma Research Foundation (LRF) – the nation’s largest non-profit organization devoted exclusively to funding innovative research and serving the lymphoma community through a comprehensive series of education programs, outreach initiatives and patient services – will hold its first-ever educational workshop in Philadelphia on Saturday, September 20 from 7:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at the Sheraton Philadelphia Society Hill Hotel.  This full day program will provide the latest information about lymphoma, current treatment options and support issues to those affected by a lymphoma diagnosis.

“The Lymphoma Research Foundation’s education programs offer a unique opportunity for lymphoma patients, survivors and their loved ones to learn disease-specific information from some of the world’s leading experts and to meet others who are also affected by this disease,” says Richard I. Fisher, MD, President and CEO of Fox Chase Cancer Center.  “I am honored to partner with the Lymphoma Research Foundation and serve as a co-chair for this comprehensive education program so that we can better serve all those who are affected by lymphoma in the Philadelphia area.”

The Philadelphia Workshop will feature disease and treatment-specific breakout sessions, as well as unique networking opportunities for attendees to meet others with the same lymphoma subtype.  In addition to Dr. Fisher, this year’s program is co-chaired by Dr. Barbara Pro of Thomas Jefferson University Hospital, and Dr. Stephen J. Schusterof the University of Pennsylvania Health System.  Additionally, the speaking faculty of LRF’s Philadelphia Workshop is comprised of some of the world’s leading lymphoma experts.

“Educational programs and resources are at the core of the Lymphoma Research Foundation’s mission,” said Meghan Gutierrez, LRF’s Chief Program, Policy and Communications Officer. “Hosting the Philadelphia Workshop during Blood Cancer Awareness Month provides a unique opportunity to highlight the Foundation’s commitment to education as well as to awareness – both of which are powerful tools in our race to find a cure for lymphoma.”
