Fox Chase Cancer Center, in partnership with the College of Science and Technology at Temple University, is offering a unique 7-week high school student laboratory training program for select individuals from Philadelphia and the surrounding communities. The goal of the TRIP Initiative is to provide hands-on training experience in a science lab to increase both student excitement about science and to help prepare them for future careers in science and medicine.

Students will gain hands-on training in basic laboratory techniques and conceptual skills including hypothesis generation, experimental design and data analysis. Each student will design their own independent project that uses the fruit fly to study development, and organismal and cell behavior.  Students will receive one on one mentoring with Fox Chase faculty, learn team building skills and become part of the TRIP family. Upon completion of the course, students will present their work to their classmates, families, and scientific community in a culminating event on August 18th.
