Immersion Science Health Careers Symposium 2015 Offers Professional Presentations and Interactive Experience

PHILADELPHIA (May 10, 2015)—Faculty and staff, volunteers, patients, survivors, and their families will come together as members of the Fox Chase Cancer Center/Temple Health team at Susan G. Komen Philadelphia’s 25th Annual Race for the Cure on Mother’s Day—Sunday, May 10, 2015.

Philadelphia, PA (April 27, 2015) – Sixty-one (61) Temple physicians have been named to Philadelphia magazine’s “Top Doctors” list for 2015.  Physicians on the list were nominated by their professional peers, and practice at Temple University Hospital, Fox Chase Cancer Center, Jeanes Hospital and in the community as part of Temple Physicians, Inc.

PHILADELPHIA (April 17, 2015)— A new surgical approach that removes the fallopian tubes while sparing the ovaries may provide premenopausal women at high risk for ovarian cancer, particularly those with BRCA1/2 mutations, with a cancer risk–minimizing surgical option that also reduces some negative effects of ovary removal at a young age, according to a review published in the May issue of Cancer Prevention Research, a journal of the American Association for Cancer Research.

Researchers at Fox Chase Cancer Center found many similarities between ADPKD and cancer’s signaling pathways and inhibitors, highlighting potential avenues for the use of existing cancer therapeutics in the treatment of ADPKD.

Levy, MD, PhD, Director of the Pain and Palliative Care Program at Fox Chase Cancer Center and one of the founding leaders of the American hospice and palliative care movement, has received the Lifetime Achievement Award from the American Academy of Hospice and Palliative Medicine (AAHPM) – a professional organization made up of 5,000 physicians, nurses and other healthcare providers, dedicated to advancing hospice and palliative medicine and improving the care of patients with life-threatening or serious conditions.

PHILADELPHIA (March 24, 2015) — Fox Chase Cancer Center is happy to announce that the Philadelphia Flyers Wives are donating $400,000 to its Women’s Cancer Center—the region’s first center dedicated to the comprehensive needs of women with cancer—in support of various women’s health initiatives.
