PHILADELPHIA (March 1, 2018) – March is National Colorectal Cancer Awareness Month, and Fox Chase Cancer Center encourages individuals to get a colorectal cancer screening. “Regular screening continues to be the best defense against colorectal cancer. It can detect pre-cancerous growths as well as cancer, which is highly treatable if caught early,” said David Weinberg, MD, chair of medicine and chief of the gastroenterology section at Fox Chase Cancer Center.

Villanova, Pennsylvania (February 27, 2018) – The Andy Talley Bone Marrow Foundation will present their first “Game Changer Award” to Dr. Henry Fung and the Fox Chase-Temple University Hospital Bone Marrow Transplant Program during the 7th Annual Bash, this Saturday, March 3rd at the Springfield Country Club.

PHILADELPHIA (FEBRUARY 28, 2018) – Liz Hernandez Borrero, a graduate student in the El-Deiry Lab at Fox Chase Cancer Center, has been named a fellow of the Yale Ciencia Academy (YCA) for Career Development. She is one of only 40 graduate students from around the country to be selected for this competitive program.

PHILADELPHIA (FEBRUARY 9, 2018) – Jean Kozempel, PT, DPT, MS, manager of physical medicine and rehabilitation at Fox Chase Cancer Center, has been selected by the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA) to receive the 2017 Oncology Section President’s Award. The President’s Award recognizes physical therapists in the oncology field who are considered pioneers within their practice areas.

PHILADELPHIA (FEBRUARY 7, 2018) – A new paper in the journal Cancer finds that living in ethnic enclaves or areas of high segregation was associated with positive and negative effects on cancer risk, stage at diagnosis, and mortality. Findings varied among the ethnicities and types of cancer being studied.

PHILADELPHIA (February 6, 2018) – Researchers at Fox Chase Cancer Center have found that cholesterol is required for medulloblastoma tumor growth, implying that statins may be an effective treatment option for children with the most common type of brain tumor.

PHILADELPHIA (FEBRUARY 5, 2018) – At Fox Chase, Campbell’s research will continue to focus on the signaling that drives cancer progression, invasion, and metastasis, with the overall objective of discovering and validating new targets for drug development and finding novel biomarkers for earlier detection and therapeutic monitoring.

PHILADELPHIA (January 16, 2018) – Nurses who have graduated from a BSN program who are interested in joining the Fox Chase team are welcome, Sunday, January 28th, 2018. Nursing department leaders and staff will speak about their experiences at the hospital, and answer questions from attendees. Interested nurses will also have the chance to take a tour of the campus.
