Two urologists from California and New York are the newest members of Fox Chase Cancer Center’s Urologic Oncology Fellowship program—they have initiated their 2-year training this summer. The fellowship program annually matches 2 urology residents, providing a unique, higher level and comprehensive experience in the treatment of genitourinary cancers.

PHILADELPHIA (August 27, 2018) – A new study suggests that targeting Group I p21-activated kinases (Paks) with small-molecule inhibitors could be a promising therapeutic approach in colorectal cancer. Researchers led by Jonathan Chernoff, MD, PhD  designed a transgenic mouse model that conditionally expresses an inhibitory peptide to block the catalytic function of Group I Paks, and noted its efficacy in reducing adenomas and impeding progression to carcinomas.

Faculty and staff, volunteers, patients, survivors, and their families will come together at this family-friendly 5K run/walk to raise funds to support ovarian cancer research and advocacy on Saturday, September 8.

PHILADELPHIA (August 22, 2018)— Jeffrey Farma, MD, surgical oncologist at Fox Chase Cancer Center, has been appointed chief of the Division of General Surgery within the Department of Surgery.

PHILADELPHIA (August 21, 2018)— Michael J. Hall, MD, MS, interim chair of Clinical Genetics at Fox Chase Cancer Center, has received an American Cancer Society research grant to improve understanding and communication of genetic risk information among physicians and cancer patients.

PHILADELPHIA (August 20, 2018)— Martin J. Edelman, MD, chair of the department of Hematology/Oncology, has received a Translational Research Partnership Award in collaboration with Creatv Microtech,  from the U.S. Department of Defense to develop a test for early detection of early stage lung cancer.
