Fels Cancer Institute for Personalized Medicine, Fox Chase Cancer Center, and Thomas Jefferson University to Host Inaugural Symposium on Genome Instability and Personalized Medicine

PHILADELPHIA (August 4, 2022)—The Fels Cancer Institute for Personalized Medicine at the Lewis Katz School of Medicine at Temple University, in partnership with Fox Chase Cancer Center and Thomas Jefferson University, will host a free symposium, “Genome Instability: Discovery to Personalized Medicine.” This event will be held in person on Friday, October 14, 2022, at the DoubleTree by Hilton hotel in Philadelphia.

Fox Chase Cancer Center Welcomes Dr. Vanessa B. Wookey

PHILADELPHIA (July 25, 2022)—Fox Chase Cancer Center is pleased to announce the hiring of Vanessa B. Wookey, MD, as an assistant professor in the Gastrointestinal Cancer Program.

Wookey earned her medical degree in 2015 from the Sanford School of Medicine at The University of South Dakota and went on to an internal medicine residency at the University of Nebraska Medical Center. She earned her undergraduate degree in biology from South Dakota State University.

Fox Chase Cancer Center and Temple Health Welcome Urologist Dr. Jay Simhan

PHILADELPHIA (July 21, 2022)—Fox Chase Cancer Center is pleased to announce the hiring of Jay Simhan, MD, FACS, who will join Fox Chase and the Temple Health community this summer. In his new role at Fox Chase, Simhan will serve as professor and director of Reconstructive Urology in the Division of Urology and Urologic Oncology. He will also serve as the fellowship director for the Fox Chase Reconstructive Urology fellowship.

Fox Chase Nurses Experience Inspiring Work at Annual ONS Congress

PHILADELPHIA (July 21, 2022)— Eighteen nurses representing multiple departments at Fox Chase Cancer Center recently attended the 47th annual Oncology Nursing Society (ONS) Congress in Anaheim, Calif. There, they had the opportunity to present research and projects they had conducted over the past year, as well as learn more about oncology nursing from colleagues from around the country.
