Eighty-three (83) Temple physicians have been named to the "Best Doctors" list for 2014, which includes physicians that practice at Temple University Hospital, Temple University Hospital-Episcopal Campus, Jeanes Hospital, and Fox Chase Cancer Center. PHILADELPHIA, PA (March 25, 2014)—Michael H. Levy, MD, PhD, Vice Chair of Medical Oncology and Director of the Pain and Palliative Care Program at Fox Chase Cancer Center, will be honored with the American Society of Clinical Oncology’s (ASCO) inaugural Excellence in Teaching Award at the organization’s 2014 Annual Meeting in Chicago in May. Dr. Levy is a leading palliative care expert who, in addition to his role at Fox Chase, is past president of the American Academy of Hospice and Palliative Medicine.

PHILADELPHIA, PA (March 24, 2014)—Fox Chase Cancer Center will be hosting a Cancer Conversations LIVE event featuring author George Johnson—former New York Times editor and writer—on Thursday, April 3 at 7:00 p.m. in the Fox Chase Auditorium (Center Building, 333 Cottman Avenue, Philadelphia).

PHILADELPHIA, PA (March 6, 2014)—Stephen C. Rubin, MD, has joined the Department of Surgical Oncology at Fox Chase Cancer Center as Chief of Gynecologic Oncology, where he will specialize in the treatment of patients with gynecologic cancers—including ovarian, uterine, cervical, and endometrial. Dr. Rubin has also been named Co-Clinical Leader of the Gynecological Service Line and Professor in the clinical investigator track of the Department of Surgical Oncology. In addition, he will hold the Paul Grotzinger and Wilbur Raab Chair in Surgical Oncology.

PHILADELPHIA, PA (February 20, 2014)—In the cells of humans and other organisms, only a subset of genes are active at any given time, depending largely on the stage of life and the particular duties of the cell. Cells use different molecular mechanisms to orchestrate the activation and deactivation of genes as needed. One central mechanism is an intricate DNA packaging system that either shields genes from activation or exposes them for use.

Proceeds from the carnival-inspired event will go toward research at Fox Chase

DOYLESTOWN, PA (February 4, 2014)—The Bucks County Chapter of Fox Chase Cancer Center’s Board of Associates will celebrate the excitement of Rio de Janeiro’s Carnival with the event “April in Rio” to be held on Saturday, April 12, 2014 from 6:30 to 10:30 p.m., at the James A. Michener Art Museum (138 South Pine Street in Doylestown, PA).  All money raised at the event will benefit research at Fox Chase Cancer Center.
