Fox Chase’s Board of Associates to Host “April in Rio” Gala
Proceeds from the carnival-inspired event will go toward research at Fox Chase
DOYLESTOWN, PA (February 4, 2014)—The Bucks County Chapter of Fox Chase Cancer Center’s Board of Associates will celebrate the excitement of Rio de Janeiro’s Carnival with the event “April in Rio” to be held on Saturday, April 12, 2014 from 6:30 to 10:30 p.m., at the James A. Michener Art Museum (138 South Pine Street in Doylestown, PA). All money raised at the event will benefit research at Fox Chase Cancer Center.
“The April in Rio event will offer guests the chance to relish a feast for all the senses,” says Event Co-Chairperson Carole Barocca.
The festivities will include a cocktail hour and silent auction in the museum’s elegant courtyard. Guests will enjoy the sounds of Sambagrilo—a Brazilian jazz and bossa nova band that will evoke the ambiance of Ipanema. Brazilian-themed delicacies will be served at dinner in the glass-walled dining room of the Edgar N. Putman Event Pavilion and Bill Schutt will conduct a live auction featuring items such as trips to Tuscany and Scotland, and tango lessons for six people followed by dinner.
Tickets to the event are $150 per person. For tickets, sponsorship opportunities or to donate auction items, please visit www.bccfccc.org.
The Bucks County Chapter of Fox Chase’s Board of Associates gratefully acknowledges Event Sponsors: Peter and Catherine Getchell; Don and Lauren Morel; the Sniger, Klein and Bruno Families; and Media Sponsor The Bucks County Herald. Event Co-Chairpersons are Linda Brown and Carole Barocca.
This year’s “Special Pledge” will benefit precision medicine research. At Fox Chase, cancer specialists are able to use an individual's unique DNA sequences to determine that person's risk of cancer. They also use DNA sequencing to identify targeted treatments that can provide the best outcome for an individual patient.
“Our chapter is passionate about cancer research,” says Lee Beyer, President of the Bucks County Chapter of Fox Chase’s Board of Associates. “We want to create a memorable night for our supporters and donors, so that when they recall the event they’ll also reaffirm our shared goal to eradicate cancer.”
