People in Rural Areas Have Much Higher Risk of Larynx Cancer

PHILADELPHIA (November 5, 2018) — According to a new study, individuals living in rural areas are at greater risk of developing laryngeal cancer compared to those living in urban areas, though overall survival did not differ significantly between the two groups. Socioeconomic variables, including insurance status, had a greater impact on outcomes than geography or race.

PHILADELPHIA (October 30, 2018)— Namrata (Neena) Vijayvergia, MD, assistant chief of Gastrointestinal Medical Oncology, and Alexander Deneka, MD, PhD, postdoctoral fellow, both at Fox Chase Cancer Center, were among seven scientists selected to present at the Young Investigator Symposium at the semiannual ECOG-ACRIN Cancer Research Group meeting on October 25 in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.
