PHILADELPHIA (November 12, 2018) – The Press Ganey Guardian of Excellence Award recognizes outstanding clinical performance by our physicians and support staff in our outpatient clinics.

Stereotactic radiosurgery (SRS) offered results comparable to surgery in controlling local brain metastases, Fox Chase Cancer Center researchers have found. Early local control of treated lesions was better with SRS compared to those treated surgically, although the relative benefit decreased with time.

Socioeconomic variables, including insurance status, had a greater impact on outcomes than geography or race.

Sykes PhD, assistant professor in the Blood Cell Development and Function Program at Fox Chase Cancer Center, will conduct studies to assess the therapeutic utility of targeting downstream transcriptional targets and upstream activators within the unfolded protein response (UPR).

PHILADELPHIA (November 1, 2018) – The new Cancer Epigenetics Program Johnathan Whetstine, PhD, will lead has basic, translational, and clinical research components, all dedicated to better understanding epigenetic regulation in cancer.

The goal of this grant is to train, test, and use a deep learning model for predicting kinase inhibitor selectivity. The project is entitled “D3SC: EAGER: Deep Learning to Design Selective Kinase Inhibitors.”

PHILADELPHIA (October 30, 2018)— Namrata (Neena) Vijayvergia, MD, assistant chief of Gastrointestinal Medical Oncology, and Alexander Deneka, MD, PhD, postdoctoral fellow, both at Fox Chase Cancer Center, were among seven scientists selected to present at the Young Investigator Symposium at the semiannual ECOG-ACRIN Cancer Research Group meeting on October 25 in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.
