Rain couldn't dampen spirits as dog lovers and their furry friends united at Fox Chase Cancer Center for the 27th Annual Paws for the Cause Dog Walk. Held on Sept. 20, the event raised more than $124,000 to support cancer research and postdoctoral training at the Center.
The family-friendly event is a favorite among many who return year after year. Donning ponchos and carrying umbrellas, they showed up to do the one-mile walk around Fox Chase’s scenic Northeast Philadelphia campus. Food, giveaways, music, children’s activities, contests and prizes, caricature artists, vendor sales, and raffles helped to create a paws-itively fun-filled morning.
Organized by Fox Chase’s Board of Associates with support from title sponsor West Pharmaceutical Services, Inc. and others, this year's Paws for the Cause welcomed Jenna Meyer as patient ambassador and Christopher Cann, MD, as physician ambassador. Lori Giampaolo returned as event chair along with Dawn Timmeney of Fox 29, who emceed the event.
By the numbers, Paws for the Cause 2026 attracted:
- 408 pre-registrants
- 54 volunteers
- 19 sponsors
- 15 vendors
- 3 animal rescue organizations
- 42 donated raffle baskets (a record number!)
Since its inception, Paws for the Cause has raised more than $1.2 million for Fox Chase Cancer Center. See all the fun from this year captured in photos in Fox Chase’s Flickr album.
