Valerie Elizabeth Armstead, MD, Joins the Fox Chase Cancer Center Department of Anesthesiology

PHILADELPHIA (November 4, 2016) – Valerie Elizabeth Armstead, MD, has joined Fox Chase Cancer Center as a professor in the department of anesthesiology.

Armstead comes to Fox Chase from Cooper University Hospital in Camden, New Jersey, where she served as a staff anesthesiologist and a professor on the faculty of Cooper Medical School of Rowan University. She completed her residency in anesthesiology at the Barnes & Affiliated Hospitals of Washington University in St. Louis, MO.  Dr. Armstead did fellowships in pediatric anesthesiology& critical care at the University of Washington Children’s Medical Center and pediatric cardiothoracic anesthesiology at Texas Children’s Hospital of Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, TX.  Dr. Armstead has other clinical certifications & extensive backgrounds in laboratory as well as clinical research.

Krauss, MD, chief of anesthesia at Fox Chase. “She brings a strong, diverse academic background to the department.  Dr. Armstead’s clinical expertise in regional anesthesia is most providential as we initiate evidence-based care pathways designed to improve outcomes after surgery.”

Her start date was October 14, 2016.
