Michael Jan Bartel, MD, Joins Department of Medicine at Fox Chase Cancer Center

PHILADELPHIA (October 3, 2016) — Michael Jan Bartel, MD, has joined the Department of Medicine as a gastroenterologist at Fox Chase Cancer Center.

“We are very excited to welcome Dr. Bartel to Fox Chase and to the Department of Medicine,” said David Weinberg, chair of the Department of Medicine and chief of gastroenterology at Fox Chase. “His experience and knowledge are a great asset, and we look forward to bringing him aboard.”

Bartel is a board-certified physician and earned his medical degree at Ruprecht-Karls-University Heidelberg in Germany. He completed his residency at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon, N.H. In 2012, he joined the Department of Gastroenterology and Hepatology at the Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville, Fla., as a fellow. Bartel completed an advanced endoscopy fellowship at the Mayo Clinic this year.

Bartel was also a research fellow at the European Pancreas Center in Heidelberg, Germany, and completed a postdoctoral fellowship in immunotherapy at University Hospital Heidelberg. His start date at Fox Chase will be October 3, 2016.
