Concord Medical's Chang'an Hospital Celebrates Opening of the American Fox Chase (Xi’An) Cancer Center

PHILADELPHIA, PA (February 22, 2013)—Concord Medical Services Holdings Limited, a leading specialty hospital management solution provider and operator of the largest network of radiotherapy and diagnostic imaging centers in China, recently celebrated the opening of the American Fox Chase (Xi’An) Cancer Center at its subsidiary Chang'an Hospital in Xi’An, China.

“This represents the next phase of our collaboration with Concord Medical and Chang’An Hospital, and will lead to improved cancer care for the people in and around the Shaanxi province” says Kurt A. Schwinghammer, Ph.D., vice president of R&D Alliances and head of Fox Chase International. “Indeed, through our international outreach endeavors we are quickly partnering the skills in oncology research, diagnosis and treatment that are resident at Fox Chase to the extraordinary growth of cancer treatment and diagnostic requirements in China and other nations.”

Fox Chase will provide the new cancer center in China with support of management, treatment, technology and research, including protocols and clinical practice guidelines in multi-disciplinary cancer care including surgery, chemotherapy, radiotherapy, and prevention. In particular, Fox Chase will send clinical and management experts to Chang'an Hospital to practice, give lectures and inspect annual quality control standards. At the same time, Fox Chase will accept management and technical personnel from Chang'an Hospital to study and train at the main center in Philadelphia, Pa.

In addition, Fox Chase will provide remote diagnosis and treatment programs to Chang'an Hospital. The two organizations will jointly conduct cancer clinical and fundamental research, and share information and research results.

Fox Chase Cancer Center (Fox Chase), which includes the Institute for Cancer Research and the American Oncologic Hospital and is a part of Temple Health, is one of the leading comprehensive cancer centers in the United States. Founded in 1904 in Philadelphia as one of the nation’s first cancer hospitals, Fox Chase was also among the first institutions to be designated a National Cancer Institute Comprehensive Cancer Center in 1974.
