Pramod Krishnamurthy, MD, MPH, Joins Fox Chase Cancer Center’s Department of Medicine

PHILADELPHIA, PA (November 12, 2012)—Pramod Krishnamurthy, MD, MPH, has joined Fox Chase Cancer Cancer’s pulmonary division within the department of medicine after completing a fellowship in interventional pulmonology at Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit, Mich. He has special interests in interventional pulmonology and its application in the diagnosis, staging, and treatment of lung and other cancers of the chest. His practice interests also include pulmonary disease in immunocompromised cancer patients, lung nodules, benign airways disease requiring airway interventions, acute and chronic treatment of pleural disease, and critical care medicine.

“As a specialist in the interventional pulmonology field, my goal is to provide safer minimally invasive procedural options to my patients, both for the diagnosis and treatment of lung, airways and pleural disease,” says Dr. Krishnamurthy. “I came to Fox Chase because of its national reputation in the field of oncology and its commitment to fight cancer through compassionate patient care and research.”

Dr. Krishnamurthy completed his pulmonary and critical care training at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center and Mount Sinai School of Medicine, both in New York. Prior to that, he completed a residency in internal medicine at Rochester General Hospital, an affiliate of the University of Rochester School of Medicine and Dentistry in Rochester, N.Y., where he served an additional year as chief medical resident. He earned his medical degree from Bangalore University in India and later attended the University of North Texas School of Public Health in Fort Worth, where he obtained a master’s degree in public health, majoring in epidemiology.
