Fox Chase Team to Take Part in Miles for Melanoma Philadelphia
Melanoma is the deadliest and fastest-growing form of skin cancer. To support melanoma research, education, and advocacy, a team representing Fox Chase Cancer Center will take part in Miles for Melanoma Philadelphia on Saturday, August 26. Dr. Jeffrey Farma, interim chair, Department of Surgical Oncology, chief of the Division of General Surgery, and co-director of the Melanoma and Skin Cancer Program at Fox Chase, will serve as team captain.
Fox Chase Cancer Center is a proud local sponsor of this event, which welcomes both runners and walkers to come together in support of the Melanoma Research Foundation. Dr. Alina Shevchenko, and the Fox Chase dermatology team will be on-site the day of the event to provide free skin screenings.
Miles for Melanoma will take place this year at the Philadelphia Zoo, 3400 W. Girard Ave. in Philadelphia. The event site opens at 7 a.m. for check-in and packet pick-up. Opening Ceremonies begin at 8 a.m. and the 5K gets underway at 8:30 a.m. followed by the Closing Ceremony.
