Fox Chase Cancer Center is a local sponsor of the American Lung Association’s 2022 LUNG FORCE Walk, on Saturday, May 14, in Philadelphia.
The Center will have a team at the event, led by captains Hossein Borghaei, DO, MS, Margie L. Clapper, PhD, and Johnathan R. Whetstine, PhD. The LUNG FORCE Walk supports and promotes lung health by raising money for early disease detection and life-saving research. The dollars raised also help to fund local research right here in the Philadelphia region. This year, the American Lung Association, through its Lung Cancer Discovery Award, recognized two researchers at Fox Chase: Johnathan R. Whetstine, PhD, and Alfonso Bellacosa, MD, MHS.
The 3-mile LUNG FORCE Walk begins at Head House Square, 2nd & Lombard Streets, in Philadelphia and takes walkers through the city’s historic Society Hill and Old City neighborhoods. Registration opens at 8:30 a.m. and the walk begins promptly at 9:30 a.m. Participants of all ages and abilities are welcomed. There is no registration fee, but all participants are encouraged to raise funds.
