Career Speaker: Lucia Tono, PhD, MEd

Originally from Colombia, Lucía Tono’s career reflects a dynamic and evolving path across disciplines, geographies, and professions. Beginning as a lawyer advocating for the rights of minors in Bogotá, she transitioned into academia, earning a PhD in Hispanic Studies from Brown University and teaching at the university level. After completing a master’s degree in Instructional Systems at Penn State, she moved into instructional design and later into healthcare education. She currently serves as Director of Continuing Medical Education at Temple Health, where she oversees programs that provide evidence-based, practice-focused education to physicians and other healthcare professionals, supporting improvements in quality of care, patient safety, and clinical outcomes. Under her leadership, the Temple Health CME program has maintained Accreditation with Commendation since its inception, a recognition of achieving the highest standards in the field of continuing medical education.
