PHILADELPHIA (May 18, 2023)—Austin D. Williams, MD, MSEd, an assistant professor in the Department of Surgical Oncology at Fox Chase Cancer Center, received the Best Poster Award at the recent 24th Annual Meeting of the American Society of Breast Surgeons.

PHILADELPHIA (May 12, 2023)—As the enzyme telomerase is being formed within cells, it dwells within a specific cell compartment. Scientists have long thought that these compartments served as a kind of greenhouse, cradling the enzyme’s maturation and function. Now a new study from researchers at Fox Chase Cancer Center has found that they can also act as prisons.

PHILADELPHIA (May 10, 2023)—Jeffrey Farma, MD, FACS, chief of the Division of General Surgery at Fox Chase Cancer Center, was recently elected recorder for the Executive Council for the Philadelphia Academy of Surgery.

PHILADELPHIA (May 10, 2023)—Fox Chase Cancer Center has begun offering cone-beam computed tomography (CBCT)-based adaptive radiation therapy, a technique that allows a patient’s radiation treatment to be adjusted in real time to accommodate changes in the body such as tumor shrinkage and/or the position of the adjacent normal organs.

PHILADELPHIA (May 4, 2023)—In a ceremony honoring faculty today at Fox Chase Cancer Center, Anna Marie Skalka, PhD, Senior Advisor to the President and Professor Emerita, was recognized with the Stanley P. Reimann Honor Award, the center’s highest distinction.
