PHILADELPHIA (January 7, 2020) – Jeffrey Farma, MD, FACS, chief of the Division of General Surgery at Fox Chase Cancer Center, was elected to the Board of Trustees by the House of Delegates of the Pennsylvania Medical Society. One of 14 trustees to be elected, Farma was selected to serve as Surgical Specialty Trustee for a term of four years.

PHILADELPHIA (January 7, 2020) – Using data from the largest national adjuvant clinical trial in kidney cancer conducted to date, researchers at Fox Chase Cancer Center have developed a novel classification system for local recurrence after surgery for renal cell carcinoma.

PHILADELPHIA (January 6, 2020) – Fox Chase Cancer Center has announced the results of this year’s Pilot Project competition, which is supported in large part by the generosity of donors attending the center’s signature fundraising event, In Vino Vita.

PHILADELPHIA  (January 3, 2020) – Margaret von Mehren, MD,  and Lori Rink, PhD, have been awarded a two-year $270,000 grant to continue their research into PDGFRA-mutated gastrointestinal stromal tumors (GIST).

PHILADELPHIA (January 2, 2020) – The purpose of the Institutional Research Grant is to provide seed money for the initiation of promising new projects by newer investigators so they can obtain preliminary results that will enable them to compete successfully for national research grants. The Special Interest Award provides support for psychosocial and behavioral research, health policy or health services research, cancer in the poor and medically underserved, and childhood cancer.

PHILADELPHIA (January 2, 2020) – Dr. Ahmed will be joining the Department of Medicine as an associate clinical professor in the Division of Pulmonary, Sleep, and Critical Care Medicine on January 6, 2020.

Dr. Sherry will be joining the Pain and Palliative Care Program in the Department of Hematology/Oncology as an assistant professor.

PHILADELPHIA (December 20, 2019) – The Fox Chase-Temple University Hospital Bone Marrow Transplant Program has been recognized by the CIBMTR for performing better than expected for successful transplant procedures. Fox Chase was the only adult treatment center in the tristate area to achieve this distinction.
