PHILADELPHIA (November 13, 2024) — The gut microbiome — the collection of microbes that live in the intestines — is increasingly recognized to be involved in the development of disease, progression, and response to treatment, but to date only a few studies have investigated its role in bladder cancer.

PHILADELPHIA (November 12, 2024) — For patients with cancer in the lower part of the rectum that has not spread to the lymph nodes, chemotherapy administered before localized surgery is an effective method of preserving a patient’s surrounding organs, according to a new study by researchers at Fox Chase Cancer Center.

Aggon, DO, FACOS, an Associate Professor in the Division of Breast Surgery within the Department of Surgery at Fox Chase Cancer Center, was recently presented with an Earth Angel Award during an event celebrating the 7th year of Main St., a nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting breast cancer patients in Bucks County. The Earth Angel Awards honor individuals who have contributed significantly to the local breast cancer community in Bucks County.

PHILADELPHIA (October 15, 2024) — Fox Chase Cancer Center has been named Philadelphia’s first Comprehensive Radiopharmaceutical Therapy Center of Excellence by the Society of Nuclear Medicine & Molecular Imaging (SNMMI).

PHILADELPHIA (October 10, 2024) — TREX1, a gene previously associated with autoimmune diseases, has been linked to small cell lung cancer. The discovery by Fox Chase Cancer Center scientists is a step toward understanding why this aggressive cancer is so resistant to treatment.
