Fox Chase Cancer Center is pleased to announce the hiring of Alycia So, MD, as an Assistant Professor in the Division of Breast Surgery in the Department of Surgery. The addition of So to the department now expands the rapidly growing Division of Breast Surgery to six full-time breast surgeons, adding to its continued growth across the health system.

PHILADELPHIA (September 6, 2024) — In a study published today in the prestigious journal Cell, researchers from Fox Chase Cancer Center and Johns Hopkins Kimmel Cancer Center showed changes that occur with age in male skin fibroblasts contributed to an increase in the spread of melanoma cells and made cancer cells resistant to targeted therapy.

PHILADELPHIA (August 13, 2024) — Lucia Borriello, PhD, an Assistant Professor in the Department of Cancer and Cellular Biology at the Lewis Katz School of Medicine at Temple University and a member of the Cancer Signaling and Microenvironment Research Program at Fox Chase Cancer Center, has received a $150,000 grant from the Concern Foundation. Borriello will lead a two-year project, “Role of Chemotherapy in Promoting Awakening of Dormant Tumor Cells and Metastatic Relapse,” that will be supported by the Conquer Cancer Now grant.

PHILADELPHIA (August 12, 2024) — Differentiation therapy is a relatively new approach to treating cancer that works by “normalizing” cancer cells. Now a study published today by Fox Chase Cancer Center researchers demonstrates that this approach could be an effective treatment for medulloblastoma, a malignant brain tumor.
