Billing and Financial Information
The Patient Financial Services Department handles all patient-billing questions and concerns, requests for itemized bills, and account balance inquiries. Our department will be glad to assist you with any hospital or physician bills received for services rendered during your stay at Fox Chase Cancer Center. Medicare, Medicaid, and most insurance carriers require that professional fees for physicians be billed separately from hospital charges for inpatient, outpatient, clinic, laboratory, radiology, radiation therapy, and all other medical services. Thus, you will receive separate bills for hospital and physician services.
Health Insurance Information
Fox Chase Cancer Center is committed to working with you, your physician and your insurance carrier to make sure that you have full access to the Center's services. Fox Chase Cancer Center participates with most major insurance carriers and accepts Visa, MasterCard, Discover and American Express for payment on any balances that may remain after your insurance carrier has paid. Please check with a patient account representative at 215-214-3717 prior to your visit to ensure that Fox Chase Cancer Center participates with your insurance carrier. Due to the many types of insurance coverage, it is mandatory that your insurance coverage be verified prior to your visit.
Fox Chase Cancer Center will submit a claim to your insurance company provided that you have assigned payment for your benefits to the hospital. Please be aware that most health insurance plans do not cover the full amount of hospital and physician bills. You will be required to pay any deductible, co-payment or uncovered portions of the charges at the time that services are rendered. Our patient account representatives will assist you with the various ways of making payments towards any balances that you owe.
Financial Assistance Programs
If you do not have health insurance or are coming from another country, you will be required to pay the estimated hospital and physician charges at the time of your admission. Otherwise, your admission may be deferred.
If you do not have health insurance and have no means to pay for your hospitalization, please speak with a Fox Chase financial counselor. We will work with the Pennsylvania Department of Medical Assistance to determine if you are eligible for benefits.
Financial Assistance/Charity Care and Health Insurance Marketplace Information
Fox Chase Cancer Center provides free or reduced-priced care to persons who qualify, as well as assistance in applying for and obtaining government-funded insurance programs and ACA Marketplace Plans.
If you are uninsured and/or cannot afford the cost of your care, you are encouraged to contact our Financial Counseling Department at 215-728-2678. A financial counselor is available Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
