Association of Community Cancer Centers Honors Fox Chase with 2012 ACCC Innovator Award

PHILADELPHIA (September 28, 2012)—Fox Chase Cancer Center has been selected by the Association of Community Cancer Centers (ACCC)—the leading national multidisciplinary organization that sets the standard for quality care for patients with cancer—to receive a 2012 ACCC Innovator Award, sponsored by GE Healthcare.  The award, which will be given at the ACCC 29th National Oncology Conference in early October, honors ACCC-member cancer programs that have exhibited forward-thinking strategic planning and developed pioneering programs and replicable models.

Temple University School of Medicine and Fox Chase Cancer Center Host First Biomedical Research Day

PHILADELPHIA (September 20, 2012)—Temple University School of Medicine and Fox Chase Cancer Center will hold the first Temple Biomedical Research Day on Friday, September 21, 2012 to showcase research and programs at both institutions. A cadre of Temple and Fox Chase researchers will receive awards and give presentations, while more than 150 postdoctoral researchers and graduate students will fill a building lobby with poster displays of their research.

Third Annual BreastFest Philly to Support Fox Chase Cancer Center

PHILADELPHIA (September 20, 2012)—The Tyanna Foundation, a volunteer-run organization dedicated to improving the lives of breast cancer patients, is hosting the third annual BreastFest Philly on Saturday, September 29 from 3:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Mad River Bar & Grille (4100 Main Street in Manayunk). BreastFest is the foundation’s flagship event and has raised over one million dollars for breast cancer awareness, research, services, education, treatment and patient care.

Fox Chase Cancer Center’s Risk Assessment Program Offers New Educational Tool

PHILADELPHIA (August 2, 2012)—The Risk Assessment Program at Fox Chase Cancer Center, part of the Center’s Department of Clinical Genetics, has a new educational website available to help patients understand the personal and family risk factors that may put them at higher risk for cancer. By utilizing the website, patients and their family members can learn about their risk factors and what they can do to lower their chances of getting cancer.

Fox Chase Cancer Center Partners Sites among Select Group Taking Part in National Research Project

Philadelphia (August 1, 2012)—Three hospitals from Fox Chase Cancer Center Partners—Fox Chase’s affiliate network of community hospitals—have qualified to take part in the National Comprehensive Cancer Network® (NCCN®) Affiliate Research Project (ARP). Developed by the NCCN Oncology Research Program (ORP), the project is dedicated to improving patient outcomes and advancing clinical research through collaboration among NCCN; the 21 NCCN member institutions, including Fox Chase Cancer Center; and their community-based affiliate networks.
