NEW HOPE, PA (October 10, 2013)—The Bucks County Chapter of Fox Chase Cancer Center’s Board of Associates will host the 17th Annual George Bramhall Memorial Art Exhibition and Sale—featuring works by more than 25 of the region’s finest artists—on Sunday, November 24 from 12:00-5:00 p.m. at the Eagle Fire Hall (46 N Sugan Road in New Hope, PA). A percentage of the proceeds from the event will benefit research at Fox Chase Cancer Center.

PHILADELPHIA, PA (September 13, 2013)—Susan Copley Cobb, RN, MSN, PhD, has joined Fox Chase Cancer Center and Jeanes Hospital as Director of Professional Development and Practice Innovation. In this role, Dr. Cobb will be responsible for professional development and continuing nursing education functions, and evidence-based practice and nursing research initiatives across both campuses.  

PHILADELPHIA, PA (September 12, 2013)—On Friday, September 27, 2013, members and friends of the International Association of Heat and Frost Insulators and Allied Workers Local 14 will come together for the union’s 19th Annual Mesothelioma Golf Outing at the Philmont Country Club (301 Tomlinson Road in Huntingdon Valley, PA). All proceeds from the event will benefit mesothelioma research at Fox Chase Cancer Center.

PHILADELPHIA, PA (September 6, 2013)—Paul F. Engstrom, MD, Acting Chairman of Medical Oncology and Senior Vice President of Extramural Research Programs at Fox Chase Cancer Center, is being honored by the Association of Community Cancer Centers with their Annual Clinical Care Achievement Award. Engstrom will receive the award at the organization’s 30th National Oncology Conference in Boston on October 4, 2013.

PHILADELPHIA, PA (September 6, 2013)—Fox Chase Cancer Center will be hosting a Cancer Conversations LIVE event featuring Danielle Ofri, MD—essayist, editor, and practicing physician in New York City—on Wednesday, September 18 at 7:00 p.m. in the Fox Chase Auditorium (Center Building, 333 Cottman Avenue, Philadelphia). At the event, Danielle will discuss her book What Doctors Feel, which addresses the emotional side of medical practice.

PHILADELPHIA, PA (August 20, 2013)—Fox Chase Cancer Center announced today the signing of a formal agreement with Grand View Hospital for the two organizations to enter into a revitalized partnership. The new partnership will offer cancer patients in Upper Bucks and Northeastern Montgomery Counties the best of both worlds—access to nationally recognized specialty cancer care with clinical trials right in their own backyard.  

PHILADELPHIA, PA (August 9, 2013)—The Scientist’s Best Places to Work in Academia 2013 survey, which ranks the top 20 institutions to work for when it comes to conducting academic research, lists Fox Chase Cancer Center among the best. Fox Chase is ranked 7th—with high marks for job satisfaction, as well as tenure and promotion.

PHILADELPHIA, PA (August 9, 2013)—James Duncan, PhD, has joined Fox Chase Cancer Center’s Cancer Biology Program as an Assistant Professor. He recently completed a postdoctoral fellowship in the Department of Pharmacology at the University of North Carolina. His current work defines novel mechanisms for the rapid reprogramming of the kinome to targeted kinase inhibitors in preclinical models of triple negative breast cancer.
