PHILADELPHIA, PA (August 9, 2013)—The Scientist’s Best Places to Work in Academia 2013 survey, which ranks the top 20 institutions to work for when it comes to conducting academic research, lists Fox Chase Cancer Center among the best. Fox Chase is ranked 7th—with high marks for job satisfaction, as well as tenure and promotion.

PHILADELPHIA, PA (August 9, 2013)—James Duncan, PhD, has joined Fox Chase Cancer Center’s Cancer Biology Program as an Assistant Professor. He recently completed a postdoctoral fellowship in the Department of Pharmacology at the University of North Carolina. His current work defines novel mechanisms for the rapid reprogramming of the kinome to targeted kinase inhibitors in preclinical models of triple negative breast cancer.

PHILADELPHIA, PA (July 29, 2013)—Richard I. Fisher, MD, a leading cancer center administrator and nationally recognized hematology/oncology expert who joined Temple Health on March 1, 2013, has been appointed President and CEO of Fox Chase Cancer Center.

PHILADELPHIA, PA (July 25, 2013)—Daniel M. Geynisman, MD, has joined Fox Chase’s department of medical oncology after completing a hematology/oncology fellowship at the University of Chicago Medical Center, where he served as chief fellow in his final year. While there, he completed an additional fellowship at the MacLean Center for Clinical Medical Ethics. He specializes in treating patients with genitourinary cancers, including prostate, bladder, kidney, testicular, penile, and adrenal cancers.

PHILADELPHIA, PA (July 25, 2013)—Gina M. Mantia-Smaldone, MD, has joined Fox Chase Cancer Center as a gynecologic oncology surgeon after completing fellowship training in the division of gynecologic oncology at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania. She specializes in treating patients with ovarian cancer and other gynecologic cancers.

PHILADELPHIA (July 16, 2013)—Once again, Fox Chase Cancer Center has been ranked among the best hospitals in the nation for cancer care by U.S. News & World Report. In the just-released 2013-14 rankings, Fox Chase is ranked 30th in the nation in the specialty of cancer care.

PHILADELPHIA, PA (July 15, 2013)—Results from the Fox Chase study could eventually lead to the first treatment for autosomal dominant polycystic kidney disease (ADPKD)—a life-threatening and debilitating condition, and the most common inherited kidney disease.  A new compound reduces the symptoms of ADPKD in a mouse model, according to research from Fox Chase Cancer Center that will appear in the July 15, 2013 issue of the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences.
